Colin Kaepernick changed the world when he first decided to kneel and now he’s teamed up with Ben & Jerry’s to continue to be that change — one scoop at a time.
“I’m honored to partner with Ben & Jerry’s on Change the Whirled,” said Kaepernick in a press release. “Their commitment to challenging the anti-Black roots of policing in the United States demonstrates a material concern for the wellbeing of Black and Brown communities. My hope is that this partnership will amplify calls to defund and abolish the police and to invest in futures that can make us safer, healthier, and truly free.”
The latest partnership includes a new Ben & Jerry’s ice cream flavor inspired by Kaepernick’s social justice efforts. The new flavor Change the Whirled™ honors his activism in the pursuit of racial justice, according to a press release.
“We are so inspired by Colin Kaepernick’s bold activism for racial justice that we did what we do best: We whipped up [an] euphoric flavor to honor his work,” said Ben & Jerry’s in a written statement.
According to the company, this new flavor is non-dairy and 100% vegan like Kaepernick.
“We’re proud to be working with a dedicated activist like Colin Kaepernick, whose work helped spark the international conversation around racial justice,” the company wrote. “Follow the graham cracker and chocolate cookie swirls as you dig into this cara-melt-in-your-mouth vegan dessert masterpiece and consider how you, too, can help change the whirled.”

A portion of the sales will go to Know Your Rights Camp — founded by Kaepernick in 2016 — the last year he played in the NFL.
