In January 2022, Bow Wow and Ray J released a joint statement claiming that they were working on a new project together.
Atlanta Black Star reported that the pair didn’t specify what they were working on at that time, though the RAYCON mogul teased that he and the “The Price of Fame” rapper (whose birth name is Shad Moss) were working on a new television show.
This business move is just the latest of many that Bow Wow has made over the course of his career. Starting out at the tender young age of nine-years-old, when he was going by the name “Kid Gangsta,” Moss had a burgeoning career. During a show in Los Angeles, he was discovered by none other than Snoop Dogg, who gave him a guest spot on the song “Gz and Hustlas.”
It was, reportedly, Snoop himself who gave Moss his stage name “Lil Bow Wow.”
Since then, of course, Moss has grown up significantly. He’s also expanded his business ventures to include acting, investments, and even a du-rag line. All this hard work, reports Celebrity Net Worth, has given the former child star a net worth of $1.5 million, and it can only grow from here.
Let’s take a look at all the ways Bow Wow makes his money.
Editorial note: The net worth listed in this piece is a speculative estimate drawn from a variety of online sources.
Music Career
When he was only 12-years-old, Lil Bow Wow — as he was then known — got his album professionally produced by none other than Jermaine Dupri. Dupri would later reveal that working with the young rapper — who idolized Snoop Dogg — wasn’t always an easy task.
In 2018, Dupri claimed that Bow Wow had more No. 1 records than Drake, per Complex. That claim is inaccurate, but Bow Wow has still had a pretty impressive career.
According to his Billboard chart history, he’s had:
- One song land on the Adult R&B airplay list (which peaked at No. 34)
- Seven songs land on the Billboard 200, four of which were top 10 hits
- Nineteen songs land on the Bubbling Under Hot 100, 14 of which were top 10 hits
- Two songs land on the Canada CHR list.
- And a lot more.
Acting Career
Under his birth name, Shad Moss, Bow Wow has had a pretty extensive acting career. His IMDb page reveals that he’s had roles on such shows as “CSI: Cyber,” “Are We There Yet?” and “Entourage.” He’s also had roles in such films as “F9: The Fast Saga,” and “Madea’s Big Happy Family.”
Du-Rag Line
As AfroTech previously reported, Bow Wow partnered with KISS Colors & Care as its celebrity ambassador.
“From the jump, I’ve been a fan of the KISS brand and everything they do to help us push the culture through hair. I knew from day one, our collaboration would be the perfect fit because I know they care about their customers and giving them the best, top-of-the-line, products,” Bow Wow said in a statement to HipHopDX about the partnership.
Restaurant
At one point, Bow Wow also revealed that he’d be opening up a restaurant in Atlanta, per Rolling Out. However, as of this writing, no further details about the restaurant have been released.

Rumored Investment in NBA Team
According to that same 2007 report from AllHipHop, Bow Wow was interested in becoming the youngest-ever owner of an NBA team. Though he didn’t specify which team he wanted to own, it hasn’t happened as of this writing.
