The Braxton sisters have been entertaining audiences for nearly 40 years. But what most people don’t know is, in the beginning, they weren’t commercially successful.
In 1990, the Braxton sisters — as a collective — were signed to Arista Records, CheatSheet reports. Their first single barely cracked the Top 100 on the Billboard R&B singles list, and according to The Los Angeles Times, it was difficult to market the group because there was such a difference in their ages.
Toni Braxton then became the breakout star as a solo artist. She signed to L.A. Reid and Babyface’s LaFace Records. Toni later became an R&B superstar who sold millions of records worldwide.
“We did a showcase in L.A. and [LaFace Records co-founder Kenneth] ‘Babyface’ [Edmonds] signed me,” Toni Braxton said, according to The Los Angeles Times. “They’d just signed TLC so they weren’t looking for another girl group, and my sisters said, ‘You sign with Babyface and then you come and help us.'”
She continued: “What a lot of people don’t know is I got my sisters a record deal on LaFace Records two years after I signed, and the person who signed them went to Atlantic Records; he took them with him. My sisters had a record that came out a few years later. It didn’t do so well here in the States, but it did pretty well abroad, especially in Asia.”
But the Braxton sisters weren’t down and out quite yet. They had their opportunity to tell their story when their reality show, “Braxton Family Values,” became a certified hit for WE tv. The hit reality show had great success airing for seven season from April 12, 2011 to December 17, 2020 which consisted of 148 one hour episodes and 5 specials. ‘Braxton Family Values’ delves into the lives of each Braxton sister: Toni, Tamar, Traci, Towanda, and Trina, and their lovely mother, Evelyn.
And, interestingly, their careers got a proverbial second wind thanks to their reality fame.
But the question still remains about their net worth. Though the ladies are all talented, some have a higher net worth than others. So, we decided to answer the question for all of you Braxton sister lovers out there — which Braxton has the highest net worth?
