Creme of Nature and Revlon are changing the lives of Historically Black College and University (HBCU) students with their latest scholarship fund.
Recipients of the haircare and beauty brand’s “Legacy to Leadership” scholarship fund will now be one step closer to witnessing their dreams come true thanks to the $100,000 allotted to help them overcome the personal and financial hurdles that have been thrown in their way.
Students like Madison Mobley, who redefined the word “autism” to mean “success” and ultimately achieve her dream of attending an HBCU.
As a student at Central State University, Mobley aspires to work with children with disabilities.
“I aspire to work with children with disabilities to teach them that they matter and that they are loved,” expressed Mobley in an exclusive interview with AfroTech.
Mobley also hopes that her own personal journey will inspire others who may face a similar situation.
“My hope is that my story will inspire others to do the best that they can to succeed and at the end of the day, I just want to give them hope,” she continued. “I also hope to share that if they have the mindset that if they can put their mind and effort into it, they can do anything.”
With over 600 applicants, Creme of Nature narrowed the winners of the contest down to 20 HBCU students who will become the next generation of doctors, pilots, technologists, scientists — you name it.
Now they’ll be equipped with the financial resources that they need to succeed.
“This scholarship was important to me because it will help me pay for this year’s college tuition and will prevent me from taking out any student loans,” shared Mobley. “More often than not student loans can lead to student debt and I didn’t want to be in that position after I graduate.”
