Dame Dash has come forward with a new claim regarding his previous legal battle with Jay-Z.
As previously reported by AfroTech, the label filed a lawsuit against the co-founder for attempting to auction the rapper’s “Reasonable Doubt” album as a non-fungible token (NFT) in 2021. Then, in June 2022, the two reached a settlement.
The agreement declared that Dash is allowed to sell his one-third ownership stake in the label, but he is not allowed to “in any way dispose of any property interest in ‘Reasonable Doubt.’”
“Unless duly authorized by RAF, Inc., no shareholder or member of RAF, Inc. may alter in any way, sell, assign, pledge, encumber, contract with regard to, or in any way dispose of any property interest in ‘Reasonable Doubt,’ including its copyright and including through any means such as auctioning a non-fungible token reflecting, referring, or directing to such interest,” the legal documents stated.
“I was offered a certain amount of money for my interest in Roc-A-Fella Inc., which owns ‘Reasonable Doubt,'” he said, according to the outlet. “They offered me like $1.5 million — Jay-Z. And I was like, ‘That’s some disrespectful sh-t. So, I guess I gotta sell it someplace else.'”
“I got the lawsuit, ’cause again, I got accused of doing something I didn’t to stop me from doing it, and then everybody just went missing,” he continued during the interview. “So I had to deal with the lawsuit on my own.”
Dash has had a history of speaking out when it comes to his business dealings with Jay-Z.
In August 2022, AfroTech previously shared that Dash claimed he felt betrayed by Jay-Z for money while they were navigating the music business.
