When he’s not in the studio making music, Drake is off making green choices with companies like Aspiration, who are working to make the planet a more sustainable place.
According to a press release, the “Certified Lover Boy” rapper recently teamed up with the climate-conscious startup — self-described as the global leader in “sustainability as a service” products — for a partnership to track his carbon footprint on his travels and other events as part of its reforestation program.
Through the startup’s sustainability services, Drake will be able to calculate, reduce and offset his carbon footprint to measure its estimated climate impact.
“It’s exciting to partner with a company that’s found an easy way to offer everyone the ability to reduce their carbon footprint,” Drake said in a press statement. “Aspiration’s innovative approach to combating climate change is really inspiring and I hope together we can help to motivate and create awareness.”
As an eco-conscious company, Aspiration offers a “complete ecosystem of Clean Money products” that ultimately helps consumers reduce spending on fossil fuels, automatically plants trees through their card purchases, and tracks “business and personal Planet & People impact scores” as they shop, a press release reports.
With his newfound partnership, Drake is aiming to start a new trend in the industry with Aspiration Sustainable Impact Services in an effort to get businesses to join his wave and offset their own carbon footprint.
“Drake isn’t just ahead of the curve — he defines the curve,” said Joe Sanberg, Co-Founder and Board Member of Aspiration, in a statement. “He is showing that people who live larger than life can live that life responsibly. Even more importantly, he will be leading by example as he shows his fans how spending and saving with Aspiration can easily eliminate their carbon footprint.”
According to his manager, Future the Prince, Drake is a “visionary with big ideas” who he hopes will be able to inspire others with his own personal sustainability goals.
“Drake, Dreamcrew, and I are all super excited about what Aspiration is doing and the possibilities and the road ahead,” he concluded in a statement.
Outside of partnering with Aspiration, Drake also has his hands in investing in companies like Daring Foods Inc. — a plant-based chicken startup, as well as secured partnerships with livestream company Caffeine and Live Nation.
