E-40 is coming through with a major flex.
According to HipHopDX, the west coast emcee reminded fans that he was the first male Hip-Hop artist to ink a multi-million dollar distribution deal.
The move, which was made back in 1994, included a $3.5 million payout.
E-40 took to his Instagram profile to remind people of the historic deal with a clip from the “No Vultures” podcast hosted by rapper Cellski and Lord Rab.
“E-40 just signed for $3.5 million,” said Cellski after Lord Rab recalled how former magazine Rap Pages shared the news back in 1994.

“E-40 was the first person on the front of the magazine with the multi-million dollar deal,” said Lord Rab. “$3 million sounds normal as f-ck now — no rapper was gettin’ money like that.”
What’s more, E-40 previously spoke on how the deal went down.
At the time, he had signed alongside fellow emcees B-Legit, D-Shot, and Suga-T. Together, they made up the rap group called The Click.
“When we signed with Jive Records in 1994, a lot of people were like, ‘Man, they got a $3 million deal! Woo, they got $3 million,’” said the “Tell Me When To Go” rapper during a 2012 interview with NPR. “You don’t get $3 million upfront just like that. No. As a matter of fact, it was worth way more than that over the years.”
Today, E-40 continues to make power moves as an entrepreneur.
He has Goon With A Spoon food products, which include ice cream, a sausage line, and more. He also has a wine company, Earl Stevens Selections.
As previously reported by AfroTech, the Bay Area legend revealed that he has partnered with fellow west coast emcee, Snoop Dogg, to launch a cookbook under the same Goon With A Spoon imprint.
