Pepsi Stronger Together and Fat Joe are teaming up to partner with Gamesa Cookies to provide underserved youth with access and opportunities through its first national scholarship search.

According to PR Newswire, the program will serve as a leg of PepsiCo’s series of grassroots initiatives that are specifically designed to support local communities. Overall, the goal is to support underserved youth across the nation by allowing students to apply for a chance to receive one of four $25,000 scholarships to pursue an education in music and the arts.

PepsiCo's Multicultural Business and Equity Development President Derek Lewis shares a statement:

“Across some of the largest cities in the country, Black and Hispanic students under index on access to creative arts education, despite the benefits and opportunities it provides. Addressing the needs of underserved communities is why Pepsi Stronger Together was created and given our brand’s rich history and footprint in music and entertainment, this program was a natural fit.”

He continued: “We are honored to have the help of leading artists like Fat Joe and Angie Martinez – people that have broken barriers to get to where they are today – as we collectively look to open more doors for multicultural youth who want to pursue an arts education.”

The Program

On June 12, the program is set to begin in New York City during the Puerto Rican Day Parade, where Fat Joe is set to serve as Padrino — or Godfather — on Pepsi Stronger Together and Gamea’s float. At his side will be media icon Angie Martinez, as well as former Bronx borough president Ruben Diaz Jr. and singer Tony Sunshine.

It’s important that we empower our youth – especially from underserved communities – so they have the confidence and foundation to reach their full potential.”

How to Apply

The scholarship is now open to high school seniors across the nation both online and at designated sites within four major cities including Fat Joe’s UP Store located in the Bronx.
