Tech companies are known for paying their interns well above typical minimum wage, but Facebook takes the cake in compensating their interns.
Facebook pays interns about $8000 per month, making it the highest paying internship, according to a new report from Glassdoor. Twelve tech companies made Glassdoor’s list including Amazon, Salesforce, Google, and Microsoft — which highlights the industry’s willingness to pay top dollar for skilled workers.
If interns stayed around for an entire year at Facebook with that pay, they could make around $96,000.
Facebook recently announced that it is increasing its pay for contractors, a move that has been a hot topic for temporary and contract workers at tech companies.
Other tech companies like Google and Amazon have received pushback for their treatment of contract and temporary workers. In November, Amazon announced that it was increasing its minimum wage to $15 for all of its subsidiary and Whole Foods employees.
Facebook’s contractor move could make it a leader in the space for compensation, now that it has already taken the title for paying its interns.
