Hit-Boy has an inspiring testimony to share.

During an interview on the “Off the Record” podcast in November 2022, the Grammy-winning producer recounted a low point in his life and career.

“I turned up [in] 2012, got dumb bread,” Hit-Boy told host DJ Akademiks. “By 2017, I was laying on my ground with zero dollars in my account after having millions, balled up in [the fetal position], crying. Nobody around me, by myself, and I was living in a mansion in Beverly Hills, [CA]. I blew it. I was investing in the homies, I was putting up money for everybody around me.”

He added, “All type of sh-t was going on, but I still was like, ‘Yo, I got no money in my account.’ I can’t reach the n–gas that manage me — at the time it was Roc Nation. I’m just completely on my own. I had no money in my account, bro.”

Now, nearly a year since that previous interview, Hit-Boy has returned with a new update. 

“Some of y’all might remember when i went on akademiks podcast and talked about falling on hard times back around 2017,” he wrote in an Instagram caption. “crzy how life works i just bought back the property in beverly hills i was renting then and couldn’t afford at the time and now im designing my dream estate on it. stay focused stay motivated keep going.”

The past few years after 2017 have proven to be victorious years for Hit-Boy. Along with designing his new estate, he has been featured on Beyoncé’s “Renaissance” and The Game’s “Drillmatic: Heart Vs. Mind.” In 2022 he was also tapped to curate the Madden NFL 23 soundtrack for EA Sports. As previously shared by AFROTECH, the announcement marked the first time in franchise history that the video game soundtrack has been produced by one artist. 

“Never would’ve thought as a kid I’d be able to score my favorite game,” he shared at the time. “Madden been one of my great loves since day one. Like music, I just couldn’t escape my obsession for the game. The way it brought to life the sights and sounds and feelings of a Sunday. The unforgettable music the game gave us.”
