And he’s said that having children changed his life for the better, too.
“More than anything you have to make time to be with your children,” he said, according to The Huffington Post. “It’s something I battle a lot because of my career, because as much as it’s nice to be busy and working, ultimately children don’t raise themselves. You’ve got to be there to help them and guide them through it. That’s one thing I try my very best to do. I love being a dad, it’s an important part of my life.”

Isan Elba
Isan Elba is Idris Elba’s daughter, and the elder of his two children. According to Insider, she was the 2019 Golden Globe Ambassador (a title also held by such celebrity children as Duane “The Rock” Johnson’s daughter and Spike Lee’s children), and told Glamour that she’d like to be a director one day.
“I really got to see all of the behind-the-scenes, like what the sound department does, the lighting department, the best boy, etc. I didn’t even know what a best boy was before,” she said to the outlet. “And then getting to hang out with the producers, that was really cool. So I’m definitely thinking about being a filmmaker.”
Winston Elba
According to HollywoodLife, Winston Elba — so named for his grandfather, Idris’s father, who passed away a year before his birth — was lucky enough to have his father in the room to witness his birth. Obviously, because of his young age, he keeps a very low profile.
