Lizzo isn’t one to dim her shine, and her latest mega-watt boss move proves it.
According to Deadline, Lizzo, born Melissa Viviane Jefferson, scored a first-look deal with Amazon Studios. Under the new partnership, the pop star will produce and develop TV series to premiere exclusively on Amazon Prime.
“I’m so excited to partner with the amazing team at Amazon,” said Lizzo. “Thank you to Jen Salke and the rest of the team for making this dream come true. I can’t wait to get started and share my vision with the world.”
Dubbed “force of positivity” by co-head of television at Amazon Studios, Albert Cheng, the “Truth Hurts” singer is known for feel-good songs like “Good As Hell.” Her first projects in Hollywood included a role in the film “Hustlers” and a character in “UglyDolls.”
However, the new deal will be Lizzo’s first foray in the TV business.
“Lizzo is one of the most exciting, creative, joyful artists in the industry, and it is such a pleasure to announce this new deal with her,” said Jennifer Salke, head of Amazon Studios. “She has such a unique perspective and we’re so excited to hear her ideas for new content that our Prime Video customers are sure to love.”
