Shaquille O’Neal’s Big Chicken is expanding its presence to the state of Michigan.
Franchise Times reports the fast-food chain is moving forward with a 20-unit development deal in partnership with H&D Group Investments. Big Chicken is slated to hit cities including Detroit, Ann Arbor, Lansing, Flint, Saginaw, and Mount Pleasant.
The first restaurant is expected to open at 11476 N. Linden Road in early 2024, per WNEM-TV.
“Aside from its star-powered backing from Shaquille O’Neal, Big Chicken has a ‘wow’ factor that is rare to come by. I’ve had the privilege of trying a variety of menu offerings at different Big Chicken locations, and both the quality and flavor have been exceptional each time,” said a spokesperson from H&D Group Investments, according to WNEM-TV. “It was an easy decision to bring the concept to Michigan, and we’re excited to be a part of the brand.”
O’Neal shows no signs of slowing down as the fast-food chain will also be making its way to Pennsylvania in partnership with Harsimrat and Shubreet Sidhu.
Lehigh Valley News reports entrepreneurs Harsimrat and Shubreet Sidhu will lead the expansion efforts and plan to reach various markets in the state.
The Sidhu family is actively searching to place a Big Chicken location in potential areas that “include the Tilghman Street area and Airport Road in Allentown, and St. Luke’s campuses in Bethlehem and Easton.”
“We are in talks with developers and real estate agents throughout the Lehigh Valley,” Harsimrat told Lehigh Valley News. “So we are [still] negotiating and considering options.”
The recent growth across Michigan and Pennsylvania adds to the chain’s expansion in Las Vegas, Los Angeles, Seattle, Houston, Rosemont, among others.
