TikTok has a new creative addition on its hands that’s looking to take creators’ content to the next level. TechCrunch reports that the company has launched Effect House — its own augmented reality (AR) development platform. TikTokers will now have access to AR effects within the video app to grow their reach and level of creativity. While already known for its extensive library of effects, the launch allows for creators to build their own effects, according to the outlet. The new expansion further tightens its competition against Snap and Meta. “Effect House brings your storytelling to life through powerful, intuitive, and expressive features,” its website describes. “Our built-in capabilities — from advanced tracking to rich interactions — enable you to experiment, create, preview, publish and manage all your effects on TikTok.” Effect House has been in close beta since its creation in 2021. Now, after it’s officially gone public, TikTok is opening up beta access from its initial...
Evolving with social media is no small feat, yet Rickey Thompson and Denzel Dion have made it look easy. The online world has watched the two influencers and best friends grow up from six-second Vines to becoming YouTubers — because before TikTok, YouTube was where a class of Black content creators entered the space and took the Internet by storm. And things were clearly just beginning, as Thompson and Dion seemingly went on to make even bigger moves in the entertainment industry. In my opinion, their success is marked as wins, especially when up against not being awarded the same level of opportunities as their white counterparts. However, t he two have stayed ten toes down in the game for nearly a decade — even though the way Black content creators get treated hasn’t really improved much. Take, for example, how Black TikTokers are the creative masterminds behind some of the biggest trends on the platform, but still, Forbes’ list of the highest TikTok earners featured no Black...
OnlyFans has been in the fight of its life this past week. After days of frustrated users voicing their concerns online, the platform has decided to officially call off its adult content ban to continue welcoming creators of all categories. Earlier today (Aug. 25), the company took to Twitter to issue a statement addressing the news of its October ban that would restrict any and all sexually-explicit content on the platform. OnlyFans thanked users for “making their voices heard” and went on to announce it has suspended its plan to change its content policy in the fall. “We have secured assurances necessary to support our diverse creator community and have suspended the planned October 1 policy change,” the company tweeted. “OnlyFans stands for inclusion and we will continue to provide a home for all creators.” Thank you to everyone for making your voices heard. We have secured assurances necessary to support our diverse creator community and have suspended the planned October 1...
Since its initiation on Feb. 14, 2005, YouTube has taken the world by storm, providing a platform for content creators across the globe. Over the years, the site has served as the blueprint for sharing videos across the Internet for its competitors. Today, the company works to continue to hold the title as the No. 1 place to watch videos, and of course, it’s no secret that the platform dishes out big bucks for its content creators. The platform first began to pay for the content produced in 2007, just a few years shy of its initial launch. Now, Fortune reports that over the past three years, YouTube has dished out $30 billion to its creators. “Our responsibility as a global platform has created this place that works,” said Neal Mohan, YouTube’s chief product officer, in an interview. And, the company plans to remain true to its original concept with no intention of letting up any time soon.
Just when we thought the days of OnlyFans was over, rapper Tyga has come up with a solution to still get content creators paid on a new platform. Following the news of OnlyFans’ rebrand to ban adult entertainment content on its platform, the former Young Money artist has announced the launch of an alternative called Myystar — which will support content creators who wish to create whatever kind of content they’d like, explicit or not, without pushback. According to the rapper’s latest Instagram post, he has since deleted his OnlyFans account to get behind his own movement. “Just deleted my Onlyfans, starting my own platform @myystar8 more futuristic , better quality & only 10% fee,” he wrote. “Creators will also be able to make content of their choice!” Tyga then encouraged users to apply to get invites to the platform. OnlyFans is no longer just only for adult content. The streaming service wants a new reputation that pushes a different agenda for its creators — starting with its app. According to several reports, OnlyFans — which has only previously been accessible through its website — created a brand-new app earlier this year that offers videos with some of its biggest creators. What comes as a surprise from the notoriously explicit platform is that its new app shows no nudity. That’s right, OnlyFans is getting wholesome to add its services to Apple and Google app stores. The ad-free app is called “OFTV” and it officially launched back in January, but this week OnlyFans says that it’s marketing the app to attract those who aren’t already subscribed to the streaming service. It reportedly offers a library of over 800 videos that includes original content from chefs, yoga instructors, podcasters and more. It even features an original series called “Unlocked” that shares conversations with...
