Solange's Saint Heron Is Expanding Into A Multidisciplinary Cultural Platform To Support Artists Of Color

Grammy-winning singer/songwriter Solange Knowles originally launched her company, Saint Heron, back in 2013 with a simple mission to create a cultural hub that amplifies the work of Black artists across music, art and film. Now, the digital brand is looking to reintroduce itself through its next evolutionary phase as a cultural institution. According to a press release shared with AfroTech, Saint Heron is officially expanding into a multidisciplinary platform, studio and creative agency in which its mission will continue to uphold values that “preserve, collect and uplift the stories, works, and archives” of Black and brown artists throughout our creative communities. “Saint Heron’s vision to build and structure new worlds that connect and strengthen our identities through expression, is the foundation of its work,” Knowles told ESSENCE. “We are intentional about how we empower authenticity, and that begins from our center. How Indie Creative Agency Bask Expanded Services To Work With 300 Entertainment, Roc Nation And More

True creativity never dies, it simply pivots in the face of adversity. When the pandemic first hit last year, creative companies like Bask were forced to get innovative with its services, but the payoff proved to be invaluable to its future. According to founder James “Doogz” McDonald, he originally launched the agency as a means to provide an inclusive place for Black and people of color to bask and thrive freely, hence what inspired the company name. McDonald — who attended The College at Brockport, State University of New York as a broadcast journalism and sports management major — created Bask with a goal to shift the event space and, most recently, offer a new approach to digital marketing. “I figured...

Former Television Execs Launch Marketing Agency to Help Brands Connect With Black Audiences

Since the recent protests for racial justice, companies have scrambled to clean house, positioning themselves to be more diverse and inclusive. In addition, plenty of organizations have remixed their marketing to speak to a more multicultural audience. Still, some are missing the mark. According to NewsOne , former television executives Jessica D. Lane Alexander and Lori J. Hall founded Pop’N Creative “to help brands cultivate an authentic connection with multicultural audiences.” Launched in 2020, the agency focuses on digital and social content creation, experiential design, and masterful storytelling, the site reads. “We are absolutely, unapologetically passionate about multicultural marketing and helping brands get it right,” Hall told NewsOne. Both Hall and Alexander aim to help disrupt conflicting representation for Black girls in mainstream marketing, especially on the beauty of African-American attributes such as natural hair. “While I was super excited to see someone who...
