Stephen Curry Becomes First NBA Player To Endorse A College Athlete Under NIL Changes

It looks like Connecticut women’s basketball player Azzi Fudd is entering her first year with a bang. According to The Athletic, the freshman guard has signed a name, image and likeness endorsement (NIL) deal with Golden State Warriors star Stephen Curry. The historic partnership, announced Wednesday, lands Curry as the first NBA player to endorse a college player under the new NIL rules. As AfroTech previously told you, the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) changes empower student-athletes by allowing them to gain exposure and earn profit for the first time. Other college athletes have since tapped in such as Tennessee State University basketball player Hercy Miller, Jackson State University quarterback Shedeur Sanders and University of Miami’s D’Eriq King.

Master P To Expand Restaurant Franchise That Gives Back To The Community To Nashville

Master P is on to his next business move, but this time it’s in Nashville, TN. While his son Hercy Miller plays for Tennessee State University, the business mogul has his eyes on expanding his restaurant franchise, Big Poppa Burgers, according to BizJournals. As previously reported by AfroTech, Miller committed to playing basketball for Tennessee State University and secured a $2 million NCAA endorsement deal earlier this year. Big Poppa Burgers currently has two locations in the rap legend’s hometown of New Orleans, LA. As Master P’s now a part-time resident of Nashville, he plans for the city to be another area to spark building wealth in the community. “This is like my second home now,” Master P told BizJournals. “I just fell in love with the culture and the people. My son plays basketball for TSU : He’s an A student, majoring in business. I’m in and out and will be able to spend a lot more time here. In New Orleans, I have my Big Poppa Burgers restaurant chain, so I’m looking...

Deion Sanders' Son Shedeur Sanders Is Now The Youngest Athlete Ambassador For Beats By Dre

Beats by Dre (Beats) is the latest company to tap into the wave of college athletes who are now able to benefit from their name, image, and likeness (NIL). The move by the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) to allow student-athletes to gain profit and exposure thanks to the new NIL rule may have been the best thing to happen to both companies and athletes since sliced bread! In an announcement on Wednesday, Beats announced that Jackson State University quarterback Shedeur Sanders has been tapped as the brand’s latest ambassador. Not only is he the first college athlete to hop on the Beats’ talent roster, but he is also the company’s youngest ambassador at just 19-years-old. Sanders first made headlines when he followed in the footsteps of his father when he decided that he would attend a Historically Black College and University (HBCU) over the many high-profile schools who had the young athlete on their radar for quite some time.   View this post on Instagram   A post...

Ky'Wuan Dukes Becomes The First HBCU Athlete To Ink An Endorsement Deal With Bojangles

The endorsements are rolling in for student-athletes at Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs). HBCU Buzz reports that Johnson C. Smith Univesity’s (JCSU) Ky’Wuan Dukes just landed himself a revolutionary deal with Bojangles. The move allows him to join the ranks of HBCU athletes like Hercy Miller who AfroTech reports recently secured a $2 million deal thanks to the move made by the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) to allow college athletes to make a profit from their name and likeness. “It’s already hard for us as it is,” said Dukes in reference to being an HBCU student-athlete. “I’m glad we get that rule because… we are able to promote ourselves for marketing and be introduced to things we’ve never really seen.” He also explains how the new rule is a huge turning point for those athletes who struggle to make ends meet while their schools have been able to receive all of the profit off of their hard work.   View this post on Instagram   A post shared by...

Master P's Son Hercy Miller Secured His $2M Bag Thanks To The NCAA's New Rule Change

Hercy Miller wasted no time getting to the bag this week thanks to the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA). This week, reports stated that the NCAA’s rule changes and state laws finally went into effect which now allow college athletes to profit off of their names, images and likenesses for the first time ever. As a result, incoming Tennessee State University hoop star Hercy Miller — son of Hip-Hop icon Master P — has secured his own $2 million endorsement deal, TMZ reports, the most lucrative deal to happen following the new rule change. As previously reported by AfroTech, the athlete’s father reportedly arranged a $2.5 million endorsement deal that he announced back in April, which was set to make him the highest paid college basketball player in the nation. Now that regulations have changed for the better, Miller was able to officially sign his name on the dotted line. “I signed a deal with an American technology company. Like my dad said, it’s a blessing,” Miller...

Master P Lands $2.5M Endorsement Deal For His Son To Become The Highest Paid College Basketball Player

If I got the hook up was a person, no doubt it’d be Master P. In a recent interview with TMZ Sports, the rap mogul revealed that he was able to secure a $2.5 million endorsement deal for his son, Hercy Miller, in a contract that would make him the highest paid college basketball player in the nation. However, considering the National Collegiate Athletic Association’s (NCAA) rules against allowing student-athletes to be paid for their name, image or likeness, Miller will have to wait until this summer for that to change in order to reap the benefits of his new deal. “In August, the league is changing, the NCAA. You’ll be able to make money off your likeness [and] you’ll be able to do marketing deals,” Master P tells TMZ Sports. “I told Hercy he’ll probably be the highest paid college player in college basketball history if he do this deal. Guys that are going to the G League, they’re not even getting that type of money.” According to REVOLT, last November the NCAA announced a series...
