The NBA has experienced many shifts affecting how the game is played. One of those shifts is the visible absence of “big men.” Now more in tune with faster and more agile playing, the league was once filled with what some considered “true centers” regarding their overall size. And NBA legend Shaquille O’Neal was a part of that coveted group. O’Neal entered the NBA as the No. 1 draft pick to the Orlando Magic in 1992, according to the NBA website. Coming from a successful collegiate career at LSU, the 7’1″ center quickly made a presence for himself as a star player for the Magic. “Shaq put the Orlando Magic on the map – not just in the state of Florida or in the United States; he was this global phenomenon,’’ said Fox Sports Florida announcer and former Orlando Magic employee David Steele. “When we traveled, it was like a traveling rock show. Everybody wanted to see Shaq.’’ Throughout his basketball career, he played on six teams. However, O’Neal’s most notable on-court contributions...
Imagine it: the year is 1984, and between the bright neon color tracksuits and massive brick cell phones, Prince had the number one song on the charts with “Doves Cry.” And while this seems like a wild time, it was all in line with the eccentric characteristics of the era. Technology was evolving, perspectives were shifting, and money was being made. The year 1984 was also the start of a 25-year contract for NBA legend Magic Johnson.
When people say Black History Month is not confined to February, it’s more than a colorful statement. First, Black History is World History, so it should be celebrated daily. Also, people like LeBron James consistently raise the bar and set records that elevate the Black community. LeBron James is known for breaking various records. Now, in the global sports trading card market it appears nothing has changed. CNN reports a rare LeBron James Triple Logoman trading card could sell for over $6.6 million. The card, which goes up for auction on Wednesday, June 8, would become the most expensive sports card sold to date if it lives up to projections, according to Goldin Auctions. “The best comparison that I can use for the modern reader is imagine Willy Wonka (and) the Chocolate Factory, looking for that gold ticket,” Ken Goldin, executive chairman of auctioneers Goldin said, according to Reuters. “And then imagine there was only one golden ticket instead of five.”

The move indicates that he will use his name and likeness for various non-fungible tokens (NFTs), tokens, and collectibles within the Web3 scope. Here’s how James is well on his way to building a long legacy outside of his sports endeavors.
