Jay-Z’s influence on the Hip-Hop is undeniable and now, it’s landed him in an exhibit.
The “Hard Knock Life” rapper-turned-billionaire is being honored by the Brooklyn Public Library through an installation titled “The Book of HOV,” which features “never-before-seen images, art, and ephemera from the artist’s archives, providing a unique glimpse into his life and career,” according to the website.

Some of the exhibit’s creative elements were brought to life with the help of Vega Studio, a Web3 design agency created by Charles “Ceej Vega” Johnson.
The company’s website states that they create “stunning visuals and thought provoking content through the blend of art, technology, and storytelling” with the help of motion graphics, 3D, Augmented Reality (AR), and Web3.

“Our goal was to create an immersive experience that would transform the space, while staying true to the essence and creative expression of Jay-Z. We worked closely with the Roc Nation team to find the perfect creative medium,” Johnson told AfroTech in an email interview.
Vega Studio’s labor is paraded in the exhibition “A Work of Art Already.”
According to information provided to AfroTech, it featured a 30-Foot LED tower in “commemoration of Jay-Z ‘s relationship with art and how it influenced his creative expression.”
Displayed artworks include:

- “The Louvre (winged victory)”
- “Jeff Koons”
- “Reasonable Doubt 25th Anniversary NFT”
“This is such an iconic moment in history for Hip Hop, for Brooklyn, and the culture,” Johnson expressed to AfroTech. “We were truly honored to make our creative impact as a Black owned and operated agency based in Brooklyn. We are immersed in the culture and have lived through Jay-Z’s impact in real-time which made this the perfect creative partnership.”
