Netflix Fires Black Employee Who Organized Upcoming Trans Employee Walkout

Netflix has doubled down. According to The Verge, the online streaming giant has fired the Black (and pregnant) employee who organized the upcoming Oct. 20 walkout from the company. The woman, whose identity has not been released for fear of online reprisal and harassment, also declined to speak to the press about her recent termination. Netflix’s position is that the employee in question leaked internal metrics to the press — metrics which subsequently ended up in a special report for Bloomberg. The metrics, according to the outlet, detail how much the streaming giant paid for the controversial Dave Chappelle special, “The Closer,” which is at the core of the upcoming employee walkout on the 20th. “We have let go of an employee for sharing confidential, commercially sensitive information outside the company,” Netflix confirmed in a statement to the outlet. “We understand this employee may have been motivated by disappointment and hurt with Netflix, but maintaining a culture of...

5 Celebrities Who Walked Away From Multi-Million Dollar Deals — And How It Worked Out For Them

Celebrities of all shapes, sizes, and colors can only dream about having multi-million dollar deals. But there are some celebrities who prefer to walk away because they are worth so much more. In some cases, the decision to walk away from hefty paydays — whether on principle or on principal — proves to be a wise one. There are plenty of celebrities who play the long game that end up getting more in dividends because they chose to hold out for what they felt they deserved. And then there are other cases where the celebrity doesn’t know when to hold them — or when to fold them — and the consequences are devastating (We’re sure, for example, that Matt Damon could use that extra couple million right now. Should’ve done “Avatar,” sir, and you wouldn’t have the disaster of “Stillwater” to contend with). Did you know, for example, that Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson turned down the opportunity to host the 2019 Oscars? According to Us Weekly, the wrestler-turned-multi-hyphenate was the first...

Damon Wayans Sr. Might Win In A VERZUZ Against Dave Chappelle — But What About A Net Worth Battle?

In a Dave Chappelle and Damon Wayans Sr. VERZUZ battle, there’s some question as to who will win. (Our money is on Chappelle). But in a net worth battle, there can only be one clear winner. HYPEBEAST reports that during an interview with KBXX 97.9 The Box, Wayans called out the “Chappelle’s Show” creator to have a VERZUZ battle of comedy wits. “Do they do it with comedians?” he asked the hosts, after confirming that he didn’t keep up with all the VERZUZ battles (for shame, Damon). When the hosts asked whom he would call out in a comedy VERZUZ, he immediately named Dave Chappelle without a second thought. The Internet went wild with speculation about who would win in this hypothetical situation — but, ultimately, many realized that the two comedians have vastly different comedic styles ( One fan on Twitter compared the hypothetical “battle” to putting DMX in a VERZUZ against A Tribe Called Quest, and we can’t think of a more apt comparison). There’s some debate about who would be the...

According to YouTube’s official blog , three-time Grammy-winning comedian Dave Chappelle won big. He snagged the No. 1 spot for Top Trending Videos in the U.S. in 2020 with his exceptional special, 8:46 — the first in-person comedy set held since the pandemic hit which directly addressed the controversy surrounding George Floyd’s murder. Hip-Hop soon followed Chappelle on YouTube’s lists with artists such as Drake, Future, Megan Thee Stallion, Cardi B, Lil Baby, 42 Dugg, DaBaby, Roddy Ricch, and more completely taking over the Top Music Videos list in the U.S. Photo Credit: YouTube Drake & Future’s “Life is Good” music video topped the list collecting over 1.3 billion views and counting, while Cardi B and Megan Thee Stallion’s video for their hit single “WAP,” came in at No. 5 with 300 million views so far.
